Would you recognize Boho-chic style?
Hi everybody! We are back to talk about Boho-chic style. Have you ever heard of it? Probably yes. But would you be able to recognize it if you saw it? We give you the keys to do it.
· A little bit of history...
The Boho-chic style is inspired by the hippie style but with a little more glamour.
The term was born in the 21st century, although it has been observed since the 90s and some of the typical garments or accessories were popular in the 60s or even before, since they are associated with the Pre-Raphaelites women of the nineteenth century. It became especially popular immediately after the appearance of Sienna Miller at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004.
Bo-Ho comes from bohemian homeless. The bohemian term was originally associated with travellers, refugees and artists from Central Europe, although it is now used to describe disparate people (in their style of dressing as well), nonconformists, who do not seek to agree with the masses and who prioritize art and culture above all else.
Chic, however, is a French term, taken in the nineteenth century and that means elegant.
· It succeeds because...
- It's casual, comfortable and carefree.
- Can be used both day and night and at all seasons.
· Maximum exponents...
Many have been the forerunners of this style so acclaimed today, as they can be Janis Joplin (blues singer), Keith Richars (groopie), Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin (actresses) or Thea Porter (designer).
But who have been their greatest exponents?
- Sienna Miller, nicknamed by some "the new Kate Moss", was the cause of the boom of the Boho-chic style.
- Twins Olsen (Mary-Kate Olsen)
· How to recognize it...
It is about combinations of colours, fabrics, prints with ethnic touches, embroideries, fringes, braids, crochet, lace, getting a relaxed but sophisticated air.
- Light skirts with floral prints.
- Dresses or long blouses and billowing.
- Vests or straight suede skirts with fringes.
